Most People Are Going To Encourage You To Take The Path Of Least Resistance.
The reason is not because it's "right" (it's not), it's just all they know.
“The only people who tell you not to chase your dreams are the people who didn't chase theirs.
They encourage you to take the ‘safe’ path not because it’s valuable or choc full of fulfillment..
They encourage it because deep down they’d hate to see you become who they didn’t.”
-Ray Zingler on X
It makes a lot of sense if you think about it.
Why would anybody who didn’t chase their dreams encourage you to chase yours?
How could they even do it with conviction if they wanted to?
They couldn’t.
Most don’t know the first about chasing dreams for no other reason than they lacked the courage to do it themselves.
They, meaning most, settled for what’s easiest.
Most convenient.
Predictable.
“Safest”.
Everybody has dreams, but most give them up because making someone else’s dreams a reality comes with less
“risk”.
But there is an even deeper reason as to why they don’t encourage you to pursue your dreams.
It’s because deep down they’d HATE to see you become who they didn’t.
Have you ever noticed how much disdain people who are “doing the damn thing” get from people who aren’t?
It’s annoying, sure, but it makes sense.
Every time you do something they are not, it threatens their ego.
It makes them feel inferior.
You’re, again, a reminder of what they could have been.
The point of the message is this.
Most don’t chase their dreams.
And just because they don’t and they’re going to tell you not to, doesn’t mean you should listen to them.
Again, these people aren’t “looking out for you”.
They’re not telling you to do what’s best.
They’re telling you to do what they know.
What is presumably most comfortable.
What’s “right” is being bold. Taking risks. Going for it. Falling flat on your face. Getting scared. Picking yourself back up. Working late nights. Early mornings. Finding a fcking way to make it happen.
That is what we were put on this earth to do.
We are here for a short period of time.
And to not work at becoming who you were destined to be is an offense.
It’s an offense to the God who created you, your loved ones, and your community.
Despite them trying to convince you otherwise, if you live in the United States of America, you live in the greatest country in the world.
A country with unlimited opportunity to become whoever it is you want to be.
Take advantage of the opportunity.
There is nothing that compares to the freedom found in doing so.
