Design, Don't Default.
If the old systems didn't exist, would you rebuild them? Or finally create something better?
“What if there were no ‘systems as you know them’ in place & you had the ability to develop your own?
Would you still do it this way?
Guess what?
You can go your own way.
Staying latched to broken systems as you know them is the purest form of laziness that exists.”
-Ray Zingler on X
What if the systems you know today didn’t exist?
What if there was no 9-5? College pipeline? Or corporate ladder?
If you had to build from scratch, would you still choose these systems that are designed to trap?
We love to talk about “personal freedom” but the truth is many people inherit career paths, social habits, financial beliefs, & daily schedules.
And they don’t follow them because they’re optimal.
They follow them because they’re familiar.
“That’s just how it is..”
The sad reality is most people don’t choose their system, they default into it.
And the reason is because in doing so shelters them from the work.
It avoids thinking, taking responsibility, & risk.
But do you know where real freedom lives?
Real freedom lives in creating your own systems.
How would you design your operating system?
What would your work week look like?
What would you do with your time if you weren’t guided and “influenced” by the masses who misuse theirs?
How would you price your time?
Would you value what they tell you to value or what is important to you?
Guess what?
You’re allowed to go your own way.
You can create your own game.
And you can win the fck out of it, too.
Of course it’s scary.
Of course it takes balls.
Of course there are risks.
Of course there are failures (learning opps).
Of course there are learning curves.
But that’s exactly what makes creating your own system valuable.
It’s the purpose of life.
It’s the ultimate freedom.
Sure, you can go the stereotypical path and avoid a lot of the friction associated with doing things your own way, but have you ever factored in the costs associated with that lifestyle?
Being a pawn in a system they designed to funnel you into for their benefit?
That shit is far more expensive than the bumps and bruises that come with “going rogue” (said differently, intentionally designing a life).
Guess what you don’t need to do this?
Permission.
Approval.
You don’t need consensus.
You need belief in yourself & ownership.
If you wouldn’t build it this way from scratch..
Why are you living inside it?
